Guitariste, compositeur et arrangeur, Mehdi Douss naît en Tunisie en 1979. Il commence le piano à l’âge de huit ans, puis se consacre à la guitare à 11 ans. Après avoir pris des cours chez le fils du célèbre compositeur Hédi Jouini (Adel Jouini), il approfondit l'instrument avec le fameux guitariste de jazz tunisien Fawzi Chekili, puis décide de devenir musicien professionnel.

Diplômé de la Music Academy International de Nancy, de l’American School of Modern Music et de la faculté de musicologie de Paris VIII, il participe également à des stages au Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood avec Pierre-Jean Gaucher et au Berklee College of Music de Boston avec Joe Stump et Dave Martone.

Parallèlement à l’enseignement de la guitare, il se consacre à la composition et l’arrangement, se produit avec des artistes et groupes de renom parmi lesquels le groupe d'électro CHECKPOINT303, qui fera plusieurs premières parties du groupe MASSIVE ATTACK.

Après avoir obtenu son diplôme d'état en 2013, il se destine à l'enseignement de la guitare jazz en conservatoire. Passionné de fusion et se consacrant outre le Rock et les musiques actuelles à un jazz world aux consonances latines et orientales, il coproduit aussi parallèlement ses formations MEOLIA (trio acoustique) et DOUSS PROJECT (quintette jazz-world).

Guitarist, composer and arranger, Mehdi Douss was born in Tunisia in 1979. He started piano when he was eight years old, then dedicated himself to guitar at eleven years old. After having taken lessons with the Oriental jazz guitarist Fawzi Chekili. He started to become a professional musician by following several musical studies.

Qualified from the Music Academy International of Nancy, the American School of Modern Music and from the Paris VIII musicology faculty, he also took a part to training courses at Didier Lockwood Music Center in 2002 with guitarist Pierre-Jean Gaucher, then at Berklee College of Music from Boston in 2003 with guitarists Joe Stump and Dave Martone.

In addition of practicing the passion of a teaching guitar lessons, he followed the path of composition and arranging, appeared in several festivals with artists having very diverse influences, from rock to pop music going through electronic music (Lady Bird, Checkpoint303 - several times in the first of MASSIVE ATTACK concerts - Atef Lakhoua Band, El Derbek, Sultana), throwing himself more and more into a jazz fusion with latin and oriental sounds and and delighting thé audiences with his outrageous guitar playing skills and his innovative, experimental sound.
